Players will also be able to choose from one of the classic starter Pokémon from Pokémon Red and Blue later on in the game.[10] The new Fairy-type is introduced for both new and old Pokémon, the first new type added to the series since Pokémon Gold and Silver.Tierno then allows the player to choose a starter Pokémon, Fennekin, Froakie, or Chespin. After the player chooses their starter, Shauna will choose the Pokémon that is weak to the player's starter while Serena/Calem will take the Pokémon that is strong against the player's starter, in traditional rival fashion. Chespin, the Grass-type starter, evolves into Quilladin, then Chesnaught, who picks up the secondary type of Fighting. Think of him as the warrior of the three starters, specializing in Attack and Defense stats, while moving a bit slower than his counterparts.
An all-new sixth generation of Pokémon games begins with Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. As usual with a new generation there are new Pokémon to catch and locations to explore.
