The Consumer Reports 20Car Brand Report Cards ranks automakers across the world by reliability, road test performance and other factors. For the second year in a row, Lexus topped the list, nearly matched by Mazda, and followed by Toyota and Audi. Only a day after Consumer Reports looked at vehicle reliability, J.D. Power and Associates examined how owners rate the quality of their cars after three years of ownership and reached the same result: Lexus was first and Fiat was dead last.Consumer Reports ranked major car makes based on these factors.
According to the report, Audi produces the best overall vehicles of any major bran while Fiat rates as the worst among the brands.Vehicle Health Index reliability ratings and ranked the vehicles with the least combined “check engine” repairs and costs. It culled repair data from 44specific repairs performed on model year 20to 20vehicles from Oct.

Lexus was the top brand again as Japanese brands set the pace with five companies in the top 10. Ford was the biggest gainer of the year, moving up six spots to 17th place thanks to strong performances by the redesigned F-1and Expedition SUV.Health Index Manufacturer and Vehicle Reliability Ranking, which examines both repair frequency and cost.According to CarM the South Korean brand topped the rankings by boasting the lowest repair frequency and the second-lowest overall repair cost. Only one American car brand — Buick — cracked the top list in Consumer Reports’ latest Auto Reliability Survey. Cadillac struggled the most in the annual ratings because of problems with its infotainment system.
The study also recognizes the vehicle in each of nine car and light-truck segments. From that perspective, GM had eight segment-leading models, while Toyota and its Lexus luxury brand had six.
