Bad mass air flow sensor symptoms vw cause misfire

Mass airflow sensor problems can cause a variety of symptoms from the annoying to the must repair. We'll discuss these in-depth on this page.

The cause is often a problem in the idle air control system. Other possibilities include a dirty throttle body, vacuum leak, incorrect ignition timing (retarded), bad gas (water or other contamination), an A/C compressor that is dragging, or an EVAP purge valve that is stuck open and is flooding the engine with fuel vapor.

The cause is often a problem in the idle air control system. The first thing to check is the intake vacuum with a vacuum gauge.

A problem with the mass air flow sensor can result in poor engine performance or drivability problems. This may cause the car to stall or misfire.

VW Mass Airflow Sensor Problems

The check engine lamp can be caused by a wide variety of problems with the engine: you need to read the codes from the computer to get a starting clue as to what the problem is (see Project for details on reading the codes). It's perfectly safe to continue to drive the car while the CEL light is on, as long as it is not flashing.

Coolant Temp Sensor – This part is prone to failure. 20and older vehicles had a bad coolant temp sensor from the factory that VW updated.

Of course, you have to keep in mind that a dirty VW MAF sensor will not cause a lot of havoc. What I mean is that the worst complaints are usually bad gas mileage and/or a slight lack of power.

The distributor happened after and had almost the same symptoms. Im not sure that you can check it but the MAF sensor is were my finger would be pointing towards next.

Problem 6: Engine Stalls, Misfire Code, Cylinder Misfire - AutoTap

MAF sensor is wearing out and not giving the right data and see how fuel injectors are firing. Perhaps you have a fuel injector servicing done.

Common causes of intermittent stalling may include a bad idle speed control (ISC) system, low fuel pressure, loss of ignition, vacuum or EGR leaks, or other problems we’ll get to later in this article. The engine’s idle speed is controlled by how much air is allowed to bypass the throttle via the idle bypass circuit in the throttle body.
