Cleaning a Mass Airflow Sensor on a VW Golf M Gt TDI. There are a number of things on a car that are built to regulate the amount of air and fuel that get mixed. The mass airflow sensor is one of the most important of these sensors due to the job that it performs. All modern VW, Audi, and TDI use a MAF to help measure air flow. A MAF sensor is one way of directly measuring how much air is passing the MAF sensor and into the engine.
Mass Air Flow Sensor May Cause Driveability Issues on Nissan SentraThe mass air flow (MAF) sensor can fail, causing various drivability problems. Our technicians remind us that proper diagnoses should be performed to confirm the cause of any driveability concerns.
VW Mass Airflow Sensor Problems
My Mass Air Flow sensor and the car was stalling all the time.Once we disconnected it, everything started to work fine again. The mass air flow sensor (MAF) is used to measure the amount and temperature of air that is entering the engine at any one time. The mass air flow sensor senses the total amount of air passing the sensor and allows the fuel injection system to adjust the fuel mixture to compensate for cold weather and/or high altitude conditions. The first indicator that you might have a problem with the MAF is the presence of a check engine light (CEL) on your dashboard.
The check engine lamp can be caused by a wide variety of problems with the engine: you need to read the codes from the computer to get a starting clue as to what the problem is (see Project for details on reading the codes).
