To test the switch itself, use a multimeter or test light to verify that vehicle power is arriving at the switch. If a schematic for the vehicle is available, it shows which wire (by color) is receiving the 12-volt power from the fuse. The power window switches are located inside the car, usually on each door. This switch takes input from either the driver or other passengers, and sends power to the window motor, which opens or closes the window. Fortunately, power windows are usually one of the more reliable systems on a late-model car.

The power window buttons in my 20Ford F-1seems to have stopped functioning for the passenger and both rear windows and sometimes my driver window stops working. Since it is happening to three out of the four windows then I figured it couldn't be the power window motors.
