Volume button on keyboard not working windows 8 x64

I have a windows toshiba laptop and i dont know what happened but my volume keys and all the keys at the top like brightness up and down and airplane mode stopped working. I installed all the updates toshiba gave me for but nothings happened. When i installed windows on my computer the FN Keys, shortcuts stopped working. I have a asus, and it is really annoying because i was soo use to turning volume up, as well as brightness. Microsoft recently released Windows an upgrade to Windows which arrived with mixed reviews.

My Toshiba Satellite C6functions keys are working, but as you know, other secondary functions are also associated to function keys, like changing the brightness, volue, wifi etc. These secondary functions are not working in my laptop.
